Jonathan Cane
Born in Leicester, UK
Lives & works in Cardiff, UK
While studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University Jonathan drew on his creativity to employ a conceptual approach to the briefs set, work that examines human entanglement in the environment and history, reflecting on family and imperialism. For his dissertation, Jonathan explored the use of organic household waste materials to use for an alternative photographic process, for a more ecological way of image making. Creating a booklet for others to try the different developer ‘recipes’ for themselves.
On leaving school he joined the Lens Media Centre at De Montfort University, training as an assistant photographer in the studio, darkroom, and on location. Jonathan worked at Jessops Photographic in their Service dept and has worked for fourteen years at the Wales Millennium Centre, in Customer Service, Marketing, and Fundraising. While studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University Jonathan has volunteered at ffotogallery (Cardiff) and has worked on photographic assignments for Clwstwr Verse 2022 (Cardiff University), JackArts, NVC Lighting, Spotify (Chris Morley), Sam Lane Photography, EJM Music, YMaOnline (Pontypridd) and Ransack Dance Company.
